Why Go Red Tiger? I grew up loving the energy of school chants and cheerleading. “Go” means you can do it. “Red” is bold and full of life. “Tiger” embodies courage, curiosity, and fearless exploration.
To me, learning American Sign Language is about stepping forward, trying new things, expressing yourself with confidence, and having fun.

Hello! My name sign is EE on the chin—Erica. I am a third-generation native American Sign Language signer (my grandparents, my parents, and I).
I hold a BA in ASL from Gallaudet University and an MA in Bilingual ASL–English Education from the University of California, San Diego, where my thesis focused on ASL literature for Deaf children.
I have over 15 years of experience teaching ASL in both online and in-person settings, including at the University of Texas at Austin, the University of California, San Diego, community colleges, and online programs for school-age students. My work also includes tutoring, mentoring parents of Deaf children, and supporting learners and families in building confidence, connection, and meaningful communication through ASL.

While studying at Gallaudet University, I was an exchange student at Örebro University, where I studied Swedish Sign Language. I later studied Norwegian Sign Language in Oslo, deepening my understanding of Scandinavian Deaf communities and sign languages.
I am an ASL dictionary signer for ASL dictionaries, like Spread the Sign and many more. My videos are widely used by learners, educators, and researchers worldwide as a reference for authentic ASL.
In addition to teaching, I served as a research assistant in language and cognitive neuroscience at the Salk Institute and at the Language & Cognitive Neuroscience Lab at San Diego State University, collaborating with researchers including Ursula Bellugi and Karen Emmorey. This experience informs my teaching approach, with a focus on visual language, cognition, and real-world communication.
I have passed the ASL California Subject Examination for Teachers (CSET) and hold a Superior rating on the ASLPI (formerly SCPI).
